National Thalassemia Registration

Thalassemia is a group of blood disorder characterized by decreased or absent synthesis of normal globin chains. Any person diagnosed with any type of thalassemia need to be registered in Maldivian Blood Services system as part of the national health guideline. The Thalassemia Control Act of 2012 mandates registration at the Thalassemia Centre upon diagnosis.
