Permit for Designated Smoking Area

This service can be used to obtain permit for a designated smoking area in food establishments in accordance with Tobacco Control Act (Law No. 15/2010) and Tobacco Free Public Places Regulation (R-41/2012). The permit will be valid for a period of one year.

Apply for Permit for Designated Smoking Area

Before you start

Please ensure that the following service(s) are completed before proceeding with your application.

  • Food establishment registration

Eligibility

  • All outstanding fines and dues (if any) should be settled.

How to apply

  • You can apply using an Efaas account.

  • Logging into your own account will direct you to the oneGov homepage.

Documents required 

  • Floor plan or detailed layout indicating the designated smoking area in compliance with the guideline

After you apply

  • After successful submission, a notification will be sent to your email and phone. 

  • You can check the status of the request from the “My Applications” tab.  

  • Once your application has been verified, inspection of the premises will commence in 3 - 5 working days.

  • If issues are found, you will be advised to take corrective action and inform the Health Protection Agency. A second inspection will be carried out and if all the requirements are fulfilled, you will receive a notification to make the payment.

  • Once the application is processed, the permit will be issued via email. 

Service fee

  • An annual fee of MVR 1000

Payment notification

  • Once your application has been approved, you will receive a notification via email and phone to make the payment for the service.

  • You can see the payment prompt under “My Applications”. Clicking this will redirect you to the BandeyriPay portal where you will be able to make the payment.

Estimated time frame

  • All duly completed applications will be processed within 7 business days.

Renew Permit for Designated Smoking Area

Description

This service can be used to renew permit for a designated smoking area in food establishments.

Before you start

Please ensure that the following service(s) are completed before proceeding with your application.

  • Food establishment registration

Eligibility

  • All outstanding fines and dues (if any) should be settled.

Description

This service can be used to make changes to permit for a designated smoking area in food establishments.
