Birth Certificate Registration

This service can be used to apply for services related to registering the birth certificate of an individual. (އުފަންވުން ރަޖިސްޓްރީކޮށް އުފަންދުވަހުގެ ސެޓްފިކެޓް، އުފަންދުވަހުގެ ރަޖިސްޓްރީ ހެއްދުން)

Apply for Birth Certificate Registration

Eligibility

  • Maldivians above the age of 18.

  • If the applicant is below 18, their father or mother or legal guardian must apply.

How to apply

  • Logging into your own account will direct you to the oneGov homepage.

Documents Required

  • Marriage certificate. (For newborn registrations.)

  • Passport. (If one or both or the parents are foreign.)

  • Parents ID Card (If chosen local)

  • Hospital documents. (If the infant was born abroad.)

  • Court documents (To bring any changes to the date of birth.)

  • Name in Arabic (If name is not in the registry provided by the Islamic Ministry)

  • No-Objection letter from the owner of your chosen residence.

After you apply

  • After successful submission, a notification will be sent to your email and phone. 

  • You can check the status of the request from the history tab.

  • Once the application is approved, the status will change to “Approved”.

  • Should the status of your application be changed to “Cancelled”, you will receive a notification along with the remarks via email and phone.

  • Once the application is processed, the certificate will be issued via email.

Service Fee

  • The service fee for new registrations is MVR25

Payment Notification

  • Once your application has been approved, you will receive a notification via email and phone to make the payment for the service.

  • You can see the payment prompt under “My Applications”. Clicking this will redirect you to the BandeyriPay portal where you will be able to make the payment.

Estimated time frame

  • All duly completed applications will be processed within 5 working days.


Renew for Birth Certificate Registration

Eligibility

  • This can be applied for both Renew and Lost cases.

  • Maldivians above the age of 18.

  • If the applicant is below 18, their father or mother or legal guardian must apply.

How to apply

  • Logging into your own account will direct you to the oneGov homepage.

Documents Required

  • National ID of the child

  • Birth Certificate If applying for Renew

  • Consent Letter from Father (If the mother is applying on behalf of an 18Y old)

After you apply

  • After successful submission, a notification will be sent to your email and phone. 

  • You can check the status of the request from the history tab.

  • Once the application is approved, the status will change to “Approved”.

  • Should the status of your application be changed to “Cancelled”, you will receive a notification along with the remarks via email and phone.

  • Once the application is processed, the certificate will be issued via email.

Service Fee

  • The service fee for renewing birth certificate registration is MVR50

  • The service fee for replacing lost certificates is MVR35

Change for Birth Certificate Registration

Eligibility

  • Maldivians above the age of 18.

  • If the applicant is below 18, their father or mother or legal guardian must apply.

  • National ID of the certificate holder

  • Parents' ID Card (If chosen local)

  • Legal Clearance Form (for individuals above 18Y old and if changing legal name above 10Y old)

  • Birth Certificate (If in possession)

  • Name in Arabic (If name is not in the registry provided by the Islamic Ministry)

  • Consent Letter from the Father/Legal Guardian

  • Court documents (To bring any changes to the date of birth.)
