Medical Assistance Through Zakat Fund

This service can be used to apply for financial aid through the Zakat Fund for medical expenses.

Eligibility

  • Any Maldivian citizen who is unable to afford the medical care needed can apply for this service.

How to Apply

  • Log into your eFaas account.

  • Logging into your own account will direct you to the oneGov homepage.

Documents Required

  • A letter from NSPA with 3 months validity

  • A letter from Aasandha with 3 months validity

  • A doctor’s referral letter stating that the medical procedure or equipment is required, with 3 months validity

  • Passport of the patient and travel tickets (if available).

  • A letter from a hospital if the patient is being treated locally, if applicable.

  • The most recent hospital bill (after deduction of insurance coverage), if the patient is admitted. 

  • Three quotations for any special equipment the patient may need, if applicable. 

  • A deposit slip for the relevant account.

  • National ID of the bank account owner, if applicable.

  • A letter stating that the owner of the bank account pledges/consents to give that money to the patient/applicant (If the provided account details do not belong to the patient).

      

After you apply

  • After successful submission, you will be notified via email and SMS.

  • You can check the status of the request from the ‘My Applications’ tab.

  • Once the application is approved by the Committee, you will be notified via email and SMS.

  • The notification will contain details about what has been approved from the requested forms of aid. 

  • After receiving Committee approval, you will be further requested to submit the ticket reservation through oneGov if requesting for an additional ticket through the Zakat Fund.

  • Additionally, if you did not submit your travel tickets and passport as part of your initial application, you will be asked to submit them at this stage through oneGov.

  • Should the status of your application be changed to “Cancelled”, you will receive a notification along with the remarks via email and phone.

  • Once the aid is dispensed, the Approval of Medical Assistance Through Zakat Fund document will be issued via email. 

  • Lastly, if you receive financial assistance through the Zakat Fund, you are required to submit expenditure details, along with relevant documents within one month of your return date.

  • If the aforementioned documents are not submitted within the specified timeframe, you will become ineligible for further medical assistance through the Zakat Fund.

Estimated time frame

  • All duly completed applications will be processed within 7 working days.
